Italian "Pompea" opened factory of socks in Zrenjanin
- The state will continue to stimulate foreign investors who intend to invest in Serbia. For that purpose, funds from the National Investment Plan are set aside as stimulus for employment - said Jasna Matić, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, yesterday (November 1, 2007), on the occasion of the opening of the factory of underwear and socks "Pompea Spa" in Zrenjanin.
The factory, in which trial work lasts for few months now, was officially opened by the owner of the company Adrano Rodela who announced new investments in expansion of existing units in industrial zone "Bagljaš-Aerodrom".
- "Pompea" has 2,500 workers and retail network that stretches outside the borders of Europe. So far, 4m EUR has been invested in the factory in Zrenjanin, whereas 3.5m EUR will be invested in the coloring and packaging line. By the end of the project, the whole investment will be worth 15m EUR - Rodela pointed out and added that Serbia had become the most important destination for that company.
Contribution to realization of this project has also been given by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency that allotted non-refundable funds in amount of 600,000 EUR to "Pompea". Factory "Pompea" in Zrenjanin employs 120 workers who are still receiving training and the plan is that total of 300 people work in the factory.
