VIP mobile launches the first 4G signal in Serbia
VIP mobile announced today that it has inaugurated the first 4G signal in Serbia, the next step in the development of fourth generation network technology. This will enable the fastest speed of data transfer until now and an instant response time for the network and the internet.
According to the announcement, the VIP 4G+ network is accessible now to users in parts of Novi Beograd and Pančevo with an existing 4G SIM card and a suitable device of the latest generation. By the end of 2016 over 40% of the population will be covered by the VIP 4G signal, even in remote places.
VIP added that the 4G+ technology is obtained by combining the frequency channels of 800 MHz and 1,800 MHz, which is the first and unique example of using the spectrum of the digital dividend in a commercial network, after the auction held in November last year.
The 4G+ technology, it was further explained, enables simultaneous use of several channels for communication between a mobile device and the base station so that users obtain a speed several times greater than that provided by a standard 4G network.
In the VIP 4G network the maximum speed for downloads, applications and multimedia is even up to 225 megabits per second (Mbps) with an average of around 150 Mbps, claimed VIP.
VIP mobile, part of the Telekom Austria Group, introduced the 4G network to Serbia in April 2015.
