"Alliance One Tobacco" to purchase all tobacco produced in south of Serbia
American multinational company "Alliance One International" will purchase all tobacco produced in the south of Serbia. This was announced yesterday (October 23, 2007) in Bujanovac.
As the General Manager of "Alliance One International" for Serbia, Dušan Cmiljić, said after the meeting in the Chamber of Commerce of Leskovac, the annual needs of the company, as far as purchase is concerned, amount to about 90,000 tons of tobacco.
According to his words, the working concept of this multinational is that every class of tobacco has certain purchase price,.
President of the Regional Chamber of Commerce of Leskovac, Goran Jović, said that the land in the south of Serbia was exceptionally suitable for growing of the most quality sorts of tobacco and that Chamber, of which jurisdiction is both Pčinj region and Jablanica region, backed cooperation between local tobacco companies and company "Alliance".
Contracts on planting of tobacco in 2008 will be signed in January 2008, whereas negotiations for planting of tobacco in 2009 will most probably commence already in June 2008.
