National Strategy on Gender Equality for 2016-2020 adopted

The Government of Serbia adopted Thursday, January 14, the new National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2016-2020 as well as the Action Plan for its implementation, it was announced after a session of the Government.

Serbian Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlovic noted that the new strategy and action plan for its implementation call for the greater economic empowerment of women, expedition of their involvement in the political life, and appointment to managerial positions in local and republic government bodies.

Mihajlovic, who presides the Government Coordination Body for Gender Equality, also said that 2015 was the milestone year for gender quality in Serbia.
