(Martin Knapp)Since September 2013, Martin Knapp has been at the position of the Delegate of the German business in Serbia (AHK) and managing head of the German-Serbian business association (DSW).

He has already been at the position since 2001 until 2005 as a founder of former German business association (DWB) current German-Serbian business association (DSW), which is today the biggest bilateral business network in Serbia with more than 300 members and 40 organized events per year. He is bringing his extensive experience from Greece where he was also the head of the German-Greek chamber of commerce in Athens.

He lives and works in Belgrade. He speaks German, English and Greek fluently.

EVENT OF THE YEAR

- Undoubtedly, refugee crisis with everything it brings. Through this event, Europe will change totally. I only hope that current centrifugal forces will be tamed at the end.

FAILURE OF THE YEAR

- Also refugee crisis and especially the fact of obviously unsuccessful organization of migration of refugees having in mind that hundreds of them die in the sea.

PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR

- Readers of Time Magazine selected Angela Merkel for the personality of the year. However, the second ranked is a self-proclaimed calf of the Islam state. This is an indicator that the selection for the personality of the year does not represent honor necessarily.

THE BEST MOVE OF THE GOVERNMNET

- Although it has almost not been noted, it can bring a lot of changes. Namely, Serbia has re-introduced a tool for development of international movie production. If managed properly, huge cash income can come. Apart other things, until the opening of new vacancies, especially in creative department.

THE WORST MOVE OF THE GOVERNMENT

- It is a fact that in this year more significant overcoming of bureaucracy did not succeed.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT IN 2016?

- In the economic sense, when it comes to Serbia, there is a growing trend but only if unpredictable situations such as floods in 2014 do not happen. I hope that negotiations for Serbia’s joining EU will speed up.
