Vranje-based Yumco is sewing uniforms for the Army of Serbia - 2015 to see contracts totaling RSD 900 m
The minister of defense Bratislav Gasic attended on Sunday, November 29, 2015 contract signing in Yumco which is celebrating 55 years and then said that the Army of Serbia over the past three years signed with this company contracts on sewing new uniforms totaling two billion dinars which made it the most important partner of Yumco.
- It is a fact that without the army and its support Yumco would not have this kind of jubilee now. In 2015, contracts totaling RSD 900 m were made, next year we expect the figures to be lower but we are expanding product range the Army of Serbia needs – Gasic said and added the Army is planning to order from Yumco 45.000 summer trousers as well as items which have not been renewed since 1991.
Gasic said the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia, when procuring uniforms and equipment, give absolute priority to domestic industry as well as that Yumco is one of important suppliers but the Army of Serbia is not responsible for the company in the process of the upcoming privatization.
