Almost a billion euros for waste management in Belgrade

Waste management is one of the most important topics with which Belgrade will face in the next years which is also proved with planned projects in the field – landfill rehabilitation in Vinca, as well as construction of five waste water treatment plants for which almost a billion euros will be set aside.

Local waste management plan in Belgrade implies that by 2021, sustainable waste management system in Belgrade should be set up based on “collection-recycling-disposal” principle.

These were central topics of the fifth CEDEF convention which has been held today in Belgrade within the annual CEDEF Program for towns and municipalities of Serbia – Leaders of sustainable development.

Miteco company from Knezevac which deals with management of industrial and hazardous waste which is one of this years’ partners of Convention and over the years at the territory of Belgrade it provided services of taking care of different kinds of waste such as chemical, pharmaceutical waste, waste oils and lubricants, PCB, historical waste and this contributed to solving numerous environmental issues in the capital.

Sponsors of CEDEF Program for towns and municipalities of Serbia are the Ministry of construction, traffic and infrastructure RS, Ministry of mining and energy RS, Board for environmental protection RS, Agency for environmental protection RS.
