Mobile operators Telekom Srbija, Telenor and Vip Mobile acquired a radio frequency in the 800MHz band at today's public auction for a total of EUR 105 million, and Trade and Telecommunications Minister Rasim Ljajic said that people living in rural areas in Serbia would thus gain a better access to the mobile network as well as faster internet connection.

- Proceeds of the sale of this frequency band, in the amount of EUR 105 million, represent a huge financial profit for the budget of Serbia - said Ljajic.

The minister reminded that the state had already sold a portion of the 1,800MHz electromagnetic spectrum in early 2015 at a price of EUR 21 million, so that total proceeds of the spectrum sale would be at EUR 126 million.

He also stressed that conditions would be created for new investments in electronic communications.
