Construction of regional landfill at Subotica starts

After almost ten years, the firstworks have started on the construction of the Regional landfill wjich shouldsolve waste management problem for towns and municipalities: Subotica, BackaTopola, Mali Idjos, Coka, Kanjiza, Senta and Novi Knezevac, with totalpopulation of 280.000.

The project will provideconstruction of a regional landfill, a transfer station, recycling yards, infrastructurefor compositing, secondary waste selection, procurement of essential equipment,collection and waste transport.

It is estimated that 80.000 tons ofvarious waste will arrive. Contractors are Instal inzenjering, Set from Sabaca and Ibifrom Italy.

New vacancies are expected and 75 employeesshould be hired and less than 60 of them will work at the central landfillwhile others will be at overloading stations in yards for waste collection.
