Šabac-based company "Zorka Alas kamen" announced opening of new quarry yesterday (August 26, 2007) on Rudnik mountain, near Gornji Milanovac. This investment is worth 7m EUR.
Manager of that company, Aleksandar Stojić, said that the annual capacity of quarry "Ćeramida" would be 500,000 tons of eruptive stone, which is more quality material than quartz.
He said that they obtained permit for exploitation from the Ministry of Mining and Energy.
"Zorka Alas kamen" has two quarries - "Jazovnik" and "Šeševica", as well as unit for drying and micronization "Galovic", and the company was created after reorganization of "Zorka nemetali", following privatization. This Šabac-based company was sold to Austrian company "Alas holding" in 2003, after which companies "Zorka opeka", "Zorka keramika" and "Zorka Alas kamen" were formed.
Stojić claims that production has been much increased, and that the salaries grew by 50%. He pointed out that that company supplied stone to all sugar plants in Serbia.
