The French agency for environment and energy management, (ADEME) released competition for the construction of the first four floating wind parks which will contain three to six turbines of five megawatts each.

Three wind farms will be located in the Mediterranean, while one will be along the coast of the Grua island, in Briton, Ouestfrance-entreprises.fr.portal reported.

These pilot parks, as it was communicated, have a two-year deadline but in the case of technical and economic success, they will be able to function in the next 15-20 years.

The same source reminds that as for now, only three countries have been testing this kind of wind electric power plants so far – Poland, Norway and Japan.

At the end of last year, total power of wind parks in the world totaled 370 GW, 130 GW of which in Europe.

EU produces 265 terawatts of electricity annually through wind exploitation, it was communicated in the report.
