Republic budget deficit at RSD 26.4 billion

The republic budget deficit in the first six months of 2015 was at RSD 26.4 billion, which is nearly RSD 80 billion less than agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and RSD 100 billion less than in the same period last year, the Serbian Finance Ministry announced in a release today.

This result is achieved thanks to austerity measures that the Serbian government strictly implements as well as due to better collection of tax and non-tax debts, that is, better fiscal discipline, the release reads.

The biggest contribution to the budget deficit was made by the savings resulting from the reduction of wages in the public sector and some pensions.

It was announced that the information on consolidated results for the first six months of 2015 would be published in the second half of July.
