New bridge on the Drina under construction - Construction of EUR 12 million Ljubovija-Bratunac bridge kicks off September

The transportation ministries of Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) signed Friday (3 July 2015) an agreement to build a bridge across the Drina River, on the road between Ljubovija and Bratunac, with the works set to start in September.

Serbian Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlovic said after signing aforementioned agreement in the Serbian government that the construction of this bridge and rehabilitation and expansion of access roads should be finished in two years, adding that the investment was valued at EUR 12 million.

- Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina are said to be separated by the Drina, while I believe this river connects us. Construction of Ljubovija-Bratunac bridge will most certainly start September 2015 - Mihajlovic said and added that preliminary designs and studies were completed, stressing that all conditions were met to invite proposals from prospective contractors the next week.

According to her, the bridge will have 220 meters in length and it will feature a new border crossing.
Slavko Matanovic, the minister of communications and transportation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, noted that the new bridge would mean a lot to seven bordering municipalities and allow for a quicker and cheaper transportation of goods and people.
