Electricity price goes up in next two years as well

The Serbian government said in a Letter of Intent sent to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that the plan was to increase the price of electricity in Serbia again in 2016 and 2017 if needed. The Letter also reads that the Government starts executing redundancy plans.

- Additional electricity price corrections will be made 2016 and 2017, if needed, for the purpose of further convergence of these prices to the market level - it is said in the Letter of Intent sent to the IMF by the Serbian government.

The Letter, which is published on the website of the Government, also announces that after the corporate restructuring and financial consolidation of the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS), Serbia will be looking for a private investor for EPS to additionally improve corporate management and the sustainaibility of this company, as well as to ensure professional management of the company.

As announced, these plans will be executed in 2016 and 2017.

The Letter also reminds that the plan for financial restructuring of EPS was adopted early this year and that it aims to increase revenues through more efficient debt collection and reduction of electricity transmission losses.
