The Serbian government is sure that Serbia will be a privileged investment destination and, towards this end, over the past year, a number of measures have either been adopted or awaits adoption, said Economy Minister Zeljko Sertic.
- We are about to adopt a law that will create a new investment framework. Also, with amendments and supplements regarding the possibility of long term rental of agricultural land, we will attract new investments to Serbia - Sertic told the most influential Italian business daily ItaliaOggi.
Sertic reminded that investors would be offered benefits for their business plans in the form of income tax reduction or in regard to the employment of new workers.
- Moreover, we offer free rental of land or production facility under construction, while 12 free zones in Serbia still have exceptional importance for foreign investors - the minister stressed.
In an interview with this daily, after the conference organized by Intesa Sao Paolo, in the presence of the Serbian government and business delegation, on the National Day of Serbia at Milan Expo 2015, Sertić said that Serbia aimed to increase trade with foreign countries, especially with Italy, which is the No.1 trade partner of Serbia.
- Italy already has a strong presence in Serbia, particularly in agribusiness, with about 700 companies employing about 25,000 people - the minister noted and added that the most attractive sectors for investors were the automotive industry and food production.
