Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic today voiced his expectation that the budget deficit would be RSD 60 billion less than planned, that is, around RSD 130 billion.
At the conference "Economic Management in Europe and EU Integration Process: What is the Role of Central Banks?," Vujovic said that better revenues and savings would contribute the most to Serbia having a budget deficit half a billion euros less than projected.
The finance minister reminded that the budget deficit had bee at 8.8% of GDP in June 2014, when he assumed his position, and that it had dropped to 6.6% of GDP by December.
- In the first three months of this year, deficit amounted to RSD 21.1 billion, which is only two percent of GDP, and this share went down to 1.7% by end-April - said Vujovic.
He expects the budget deficit to reach RSD 30 billion by the end of May, instead of projected RSD 90 billion.
