"Kronospan" starts construction of factory in Lapovo by end of year - Austrians freed from paying taxes and public utility services
Municipality of Lapovo has freed Austrian company "Kronospan", which plans to have a factory built in Lapovo, from paying public utility and municipal taxes in next 10 years. The Municipality obliged to build the road around future complex, and the contract with Austrian company was also backed by the Government of Serbia.
Construction of the factory in industrial zone, along Belgrade - Niš highway, should start prior to the end of this year. According to the words of Dragan Zlatković, Mayor of Lapovo, Austrian plan to purchase of 55 ha of lan and to invest about 300m USD in construction of production units within next few years.
- That will be one of the largest foreign investments in Serbia and, therefore, we have decided to make an exception for Austrian company - said Zlatković.
Renowned Austrian manufacturer of colored panel material will hire around 300 workers. The plan is that about 1.3m cubic meters of wood be processed in Lapovo on annual basis, while projected daily production amounts to about 100 railway cars loaded with plywood, mediapan and laminate.
