EU starts new project in Serbia - A total of EUR 1 m for hazardous waste management system

The project called "Hazardous waste management system development in the Republic of Serbia– Hazardous waste integrated management plan" which is mainly EU- funded started with implementation and its total value is a million euros.

As planned, EU will fund 95% (EUR 950.000), and Serbia 5% (EUR 50.000).

The objective of the Project is to help Serbia in complying with EU legislation in environmental protection through institutional construction and development of infrastructure in the field, it was communicated on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the conference on the project start.

The project is implemented in cooperation with Austria, Germany and Serbia as "twinning" project since, as she said, it contributed to even bigger meaning of the existing bilateral cooperation which has been more than successful in the previous period.



It was planned the project will last for two years with an option to extend for six months. Deputy head of EU Delegation in Serbia, Oskar Benedikt said environmental protection area in Chapter 27 is an important field in the negotiating process for Serbia’s joining process to EU.
