Mirabank starts operating in Serbia by the end of 2015
The minister of trade, Zeljko Sertic, has said today that during the year in Serbia, UAE-based Mirabank which is planning investment of EUR 300 m should start operating.
-It will help businessmen from UAE to become even closer to Serbia and that business relations develop better and that transfer of funds is easier – Sertic said at the opening of the second Business forum of Serbia and UAE at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) got in March last year a
request from UAE to set up a bank in Serbia with a deposit of EUR 300 m so that
in mid-December it would issue working
permit for Mirabank.
According to NBS, it is the first greenfield investment in banking sector in
Serbia since 2008.
Governor of NBS Jorgovanka Tabakovic said early this year that in the first two or three years, Mirabank will not deal with business with citizenship as well as that the bank is planning to invest five billion dollars in business in Serbia.
"Royal Group", headquartered in Abu Dhabi owns the
bank.
It comprises 80 small, medium and big companies
and it employs 15.000 people.
