Avala mountain soon under protection of Republic as area of exceptional features, hidden beauty on some 20 km away from Belgrade

Avala mountain settled 12 km away from the capital, with the highest peak of 506 m, will soon become area of exceptional features. It meets all requirements to become significant tourist-recreation center. Hotel "Avala" and mountain center "Čarapićev brest" are reorganized and they are ideal places for citizens’ rest.

Avala is famous by its deposits of mineral raw materials dating from classical and prehistoric age. Visitors can find 597 herbal species on Avala, as well as numerous beautiful birds.

Some of the monuments on Avala are monument to Unknown Hero, monument to Vasa Čarapić and monument to killed Russian delegation.

Avala, along with Triglav, Durmitor, Plitvica Lakes, Velebit, Lovćen and Lipovica, was proclaimed National Park in 1937.

The visitors, enjoying natural beauties of Avala, can refresh themselves on the spring of cold water and on spring "Sakinac", while the lovers of herbs can find over 50 species of medical herbs on this mountain.
