Mobile phones will replace cards - Banca Intesa is implementing HCE technology of contact-free payment at the market of Serbia

Banca Intesa, in cooperation with Intesa Sanpaolo Card and Visa, among the first banks in the world and the first in SEE and CIS countries, is implementing at the market of Serbia a unique "Wave2Pay" service contact-free payment through mobile phone based on HCE (Host Card Emulation) techynology. HCE is at the moment the most modern payment technology at the global market which enables users fast, efficient and safe payment by placing mobile device near to contact-free reader.

- Banca Intesa has been recognized at the market as a leader not only when it comes to key performance indicators but also when it comes to modern technologies usage. We are the first bank in Serbia which initiated mobile banking and implemented contact-free payment technology and no we will enable our clients even simpler and safer payment based on modern HCE architecture confirming our pioneer role at the market and strategic determination to, through investing in the most modern technological solutions, constantly move innovation limits - Darko Popovic, member of the Executive Board and the head of Division for operations with physical entities and small enterprises at Banca Intesa, says.

"Wave2Pay" service is at the moment in pilot stage and by the end of the year, it will be available to all clients of Intesa who use Visa Inspire payment cards and smart phones with operational system Android of minimal version 4.4 (KitKat). At the same time, along with the implementation of HCE technology, the bank will enable usage of payment stickers so that the service of contact free payment would be at disposal to all clients.

Banka Intesa is also initiating advanced services of internet and mobile banking, Intesa Online and Intesa Mobi, which will bring a series of new functionalities for clients including simpler confirmation of payment through mToken-a or SMS OTP, depending on the kind of mobile device clients use. As a unique service at the market, clients will be enabled east and fast creation of "PayPal" account through Intesa Online application and connecting of payment card which will be used for purchase or money transfer through "PayPal", global leader in providing services of electronic money and internet shopping with over 8 million points of sale worldwide.
