Holcim sold stake at Thailand-based cement plant
Swiss cement producer "Holcim" announced on Monday that it sold the remaining 27,5% stake at the second Thailand cement producer "Siam City Cementu" in business totaling 655 million Swiss francs (EUR 630 m).
Swiss company communicate that 24,9% stake at Thailand-based company was acquired by a branch office of Hong-Kong-based conglomerate "Jardine Matheson Holdings", and the remaining 2,6% by institutional investors.
-Sale profit will be used for general corporative purposes – it was communicated.
SCCC is a leading producer of construction material at Thailand and its cement plant in Saraburi has production capacity of 14,5 million tons of cement. They employ more than 4.000 people and last year they generated net profit of d 31,86 billion baht (EUR 901 m).
"Holcim" has been negotiating with French "Lafarge" on merge where the biggest world cement producer would be set up with annual profit of EUR 32 billion.
