Reiner Seele appointed new Executive Board president at OMV
(Reiner Seele)Supervisory Board at OMV Aktiengesellschaft at the meeting on Friday appointed Rainer Seele (54) as new president of the Executive Board at OMV. He will take over position as of July 1, 2015 on a three-year period with an option of a two-year extension. Current president of the board, Gerhard Roiss will resign June 30, 2015, as it has already been announced.
Reiner Seele has extensive experience in oil and gas industry. He graduated chemistry and was heading "Wintershall Holding" in Kasel since October 2009. "Wintershall" is the biggest international producer of raw oil and natural gas in Germany and the branch office is entirely owned by BASF. After studied at the University of Gottingen where he earned his PhD in chemistry, Seele joined BASF in Ludwigshafen, primarily to manage chemical research.
After work at more different positions between 1987 and 1994, in 1994 Seele je was appointed Head of Planning and Research control department in the main BASF lab. He became the head for strategic planning at "Winterschall" in Kasel in 1996, and in 2000, he moved to WINGAS, where he became GM with responsibility for sale. As president of WINGAS since 2002, he was responsible for pointing out importance of cooperation with Russia with respect to gas delivery to Europe. Seele was appointed in 2002 a member at Executive Board at "Winterschall" with responsibility of natural gas trading. He became president of "Winterschall" board in 2009.
Reiner Seele is German citizen, he is married and has three grown-up kids.
