As of April 1, electricity price will go up by 15%. One part of the increased price will go the Electric Power Industry of Serbia and the other one to the budget, through new excise for electricity.

For households with an average consumption which do use electricity for heating this means their bill will be higher for 500 dinars. The Government of Serbia obliged to it with the memorandum of economic and fiscal policty, one of the documents which follow agreed three-year agreement with IMF Serbia.

As it is written in the document published on Friday, February 27, 2015, the next electricity price increase could happen in April next year. The Government said it will support EPS in preparation of the plan for financial consolidation. The Government will adopt the plan by the end of March and “support EPS to ask for electricity price regulation for end users”.

The Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, will for the first time speak about the details of new fee which should be preceded by the change of the Law on excises, at the opening of Business forum at Kopaonik.

NBS communicates electricity price corrections have already been included in their forecasts. It was calculated that increase of 15% will have direct influence on increase of other products by 1,08% on the average. The Prime Minister Vucic said that by the end of the winter electricity price will not go up and that electricity price increase as of April 1, and implementation of excise “have not been discussed for far”.
