The European Commission will this Wednesday suggest 15 measures for creating a unique energy market, so-called the EU Energy Union, and it is also expected that the LNG strategy will call for connecting the gas terminal in Krk Island with the internal market of the EU, the Zagreb daily newspaper Vecernji list reports.

This newspaper stresses that the draft document that leaked prior to the official announcement in Brussels reads that one of these 15 measures is the design of "comprehensive strategy for liquefied natural gas (LNG) that will also focus on necessary infrastructure for connecting the entry points for LNG with the internal market."

Considering that the European Commission is already financing the preparation of studies required to issue permits for the construction of LNG terminal in Krk Island, whose strategic importance for entire central Europe was underlined several times by both European and American officials, it can be expected that the comprehensive study on LNG, which should be prepared by the European Commission, will call for connecting the terminal on Krk with the internal market of the EU, Vecernji writes.
