Power transmission station "Vranje 4" put into operation – Investment totaling EUR 20,5 m
Today, Vranje saw putting into operation "Vranje 4" where EUR 20, 5 m was invested and which will provide long-standing and safe customers’ supplying of southeast Serbia with electricity.
The minister of mining and energy, Aleksandar Antic, in the presence of the head of EU in Serbia, Michael Davenport, GM of Elektromreze Srbije, Nikola Petrovic and management of the Vranje municipality.
Minister Antic stressed out that it is a capital facility, not only for this part but for the entire region which will enable economic development of the region, new vacancies and attracting of investors.
He outlined that this energy facility is a part of new electrical interconnection between Serbia and Macedonia, outlining that this power transmission station, with planned trans-Balkans corridor, will contribute to the objective realization that Serbia becomes regional leader in the field of electrical energy.
Davenport stressed out that Serbia has potential to be “the main player” in this region in the field of electrical energy. He mentioned that EU donated EUR 15 mil for the first stage of "Vranje 4" construction and that EMS poured EUR 5,5 m in the second project stage.
He said that since 2001, EU donated to Serbia more than EUR 550 m for urgent energy facility fixes, investing in electric power plants, mines and transmission networks overhauls.
Petrovic said "Vranje 4" power transmission station is of the new age, designed in line with the highest technological standards and the strictest environmental, urban requests. He outlined that EMS succeeded to finish the works on the energy project within deadline which started in October 2012. Petrovic stresses out that the facility will provide long-term and safe energy supplying of east Serbia and that it will be the basis for faster economic development of this part of the region.
"Siemens" Belgrade in consortium with Elnos BL" Belgrade got the contract for design and contracting of construction works and it developed the Main project of power transmission station and conducted entire construction works totaling over EUR 3 m.
