Buidlings at Slavija will be demolished - Reconstruction of capital square should start in September and it will last for a year
Works in vojvode Stepe street did not reach half of it and the City of Belgrade is already announcing that by the fall new construction site will open from Slavija to Autokomanda.
It is expected that in one of the longest Vozdovac streets the works end by
July 11 and in the meantime the competition for development of the Slavija
Square and Bulevar oslobodjenj will be released.
- Competition was released April 1 and it is realistic that works which will
last for about a year will start - Goran Vesic city manager, said – Some solutions
primarily planned and where the public complaints were accepted at the Slavija
Square project.
The square will have a fountain, three lanes for cars and a separate one for
public transport. Completely new plateau towards the building of the National
Bank of Serbia is planned.
Except from visual chance, reconstruction of Slavija comprises large changes in
traffic. Contact network of trams and trolleys towards the city ends, as well
as relocation of public city transport are planned.
Vesic already announced that trams will go in the middle of Autokomanda and
that in March, rehabilitation of the park towards Ljutice Bogdana and Humska
will start.
Underground pedestrian passages
The entire Slavija Square will be connected with underground pedestrian
passages which will be lit, air-conditioned, with movable stairs and lifts for
the disabled. It will enable better traffic flow and pedestrians’ safety.
