At least EUR 40 m necessary for Halovo regional landfill construction
On Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at the City directorate in Zajecar, a meeting of coordination board for implementation of the Agreement on managing utility waste for seven towns and municipalities in Timok region, was held, it was published at the official website of the city of Zajecar.
Velimir Ognjenovic, the mayor of Zajecar
was elected president of the coordination board and vice president will be Dejan Vagner, president
of the Majdanpek municiplaity. At the meeting, they were considering two funding
models for landfill construction- through IPA funds and PPP.
PPP means that the city of Zajecar with other local self-governances provides
infrastructure (land, road, water, electricity), while other party would participate
as an investor - Ognjenovic reminded.
- I suggested medical waste refuse-incineration plant to be built, because
thus electricity would be produced, so profit would therefore be EUR 7 m
annually - Velimir Ognjenovic said.
According to him, the profit would be equally shared: 50% would go to investor
and 50% for local self-governances which participate in construction of the Haolvo
regional landfill.
As it was said at the meeting, 40-50 m will be poured in the Halovo landfill
construction and the work should end in 2 to 3 years, it was added at the website of the city of Zajecar.
For medical waste export to Italy and Austria, Serbia spends EUR 40 m annually per year and with the construction of
the Halovo landfill, these costs will reduce significantly.
