The Mayor of Jagodina, Dragan Marković – Palma, and the owner of Austrian company "Werner&Weber", Anton Schamel, signed the contract on construction of regional dump in Gigoš near Jagodina. The contract, which will cost Viennese company about 14m EUR, was signed yesterday (May 18, 2007) in the Town Hall.
- It is the largest foreign investment in Municipality of Jagodina, as well as in central Serbia. The investment will be realized within next year – said Marković.
At first, this dump will be used by municipalities of Jagodina, Rekovac and Ćuprija, and Marković hopes that other municipalities of the Pomoravlje region will soon join this agreement, because they all have problems with trash disposal and unorganized dumps.
Schamel pointed out that his company had technology and experience to be strategic partner and to implement that kind of projects – waste management in accordance with the national strategy in the transition countries – in an efficient way.
The dump that will be built by this Viennese company in Jagodina will be just like other modern dumps in the countries of Europe and it will satisfy all ecological needs - Schamel added and pointed out that he expected profit of 10%.
