Finns to take over FAP in April

First modern trucks from Priboj-based FAP factory with the logo of Finland's Sisu will come out late this year because, as announced, production should start in April. Negotiations on cooperation between Sisu and FAP are close to an end, and Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic expects all procedures to be finished within the next two months.

Last night in Helsinki, Serbian PM attended the presentation of the model of Sisu truck that will be produced at the factory in Priboj. At a meeting following the presentation, the two sides also talked about production line details and contemporary production process to be introduced to FAP factory.

The investment of the Finnish company in Priboj-based car factory should be implemented through the formation of joint venture. Before that, Serbia first needs to issue a tender, and FAP's return to the economic life of our country should also affect the gross domestic product and lead to an increase in the living standard of people in Priboj and its surroundings.

According to the latest official data available, FAP employs 1,108 workers. The company's loss in 2013 exceeded RSD 1.6 billion, while the whole system, with all subsidiaries, employing a total of 1,444 people, made a loss of 2.14 billion dinars in 2013.

FAP corporation has four subsidiaries: FAP Stan, FAP Livnica sa nadgradnjom, FAP Lim, and FAP Transport. All these firms are undergoing the restructuring process, the same as their parent company. FAP is on the list of 502 enterprises that the Privatization Agency is supposed to put up for sale in the first half of this year.
