Today, at the Tamnava- West field (Tamnava- Zapadno polje) open pit of the Kolubara Mine Basin in Lazarevac which was completely flooded during the May floods, coal excavation has started again.

The Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, attended the pit start and he said it will provide additional electrical and energy system security in the winter period.

Vucic stressed out there will be no restrictions and that electricity price will not go up b the end of the heating season.

Until the May floods, the Tamnava- West field (Tamnava- Zapadno polje) was providing half of the total coal quantities in the Kolubara basin which last year totaled 14,6 million tons of coal.

Nine dredges at the open pit were flooded in the May floods and the water depth totaled up to 70 meter. Some 40 pumps were pumping out water.

The Tamnava- West field open pit has some million tons of open coal which is sufficient for the next three month since planned monthly production is some 300.000 tons per month.
