New Stadler’s trains on Serbian railways in early 2015
So far, Zeleznice Srbije (Railways of Serbia) took over four trains from Swiss Stadler, which should become a part of the traffic in early 2015 and by the spring latest.
These after the first electromotor trains the Serbian railways bought after more than 30 years, the president of the Assembly at Zeleznice Srbije, Zoran Andjelkovic new Swiss trains at the Technical and road station Zemun where they have been undergoing testing.
Zeleznice Srbije bought from Stadler 21 electromotor trains and they will be delivered by September, Andjelkovic said for Tanjug upon first presentation of Stadler’s train.
- These are definitely the most modern and the first electromotor trains the Serbian railways bought after procurement of trains now used for BG and Beovoz – Andjelkovic said.
New Stadler trains, totaling EUR 99 m, were bought with the EBRD’ funds.
They are produced in line with the latest European standards, they can develop speed of 160 km per hour, they have modern equipment, vacuum toilet, they are air-conditioned and adapted for the people with special needs.
- Train has 224 seats and is very comfortable– Andjelkovic outlined.
He said the trains have been tested together with Stadler representatives and workers of Serbian railways which were on training in that Swiss company.
