Production at the Tamnava-Zapadno polje pit mine underway in December - Mine Basin Kolubara put new rotor dredge into operation
Production on Tamnava-Zapadno polje (Tamnava-West field) pit mine will start in December and it will reach its full production capacity in late January or early February.
The Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, who visited the Mine Basin, Kolubara and the Tamnava pit mine which was flooded in May, said that he expects that by December 5 they will reach the level where coal will be possible to dig out and that this way delivery for thermal power plants Nikola Tesla will be rehabilitated.
So far, 93 million cubic meters of water out of total 187, was pumped down so that half of the work has already been done, Vucic said.
On Saturday, November 15, 2014, a new rotor dredge made by domestic company, Kolubara metal, was put into operation.
The project of new equipment procurement for EPS and Mine Basin Kolubara is funded through company’s own assets and the investment totals EUR 17,9m.
The dredge is 1.700 tons heavy, it is 34 meters high and 80 meters long, and its production capacity reaches 4.800 cubic meters per hour. It was designed so that it can work on coal and coal overburden layers digging.
