128 potential buyers for 55 media companies
For 55 out of total 84 state-owned media firms which were listed for sale at the Agency for privatization, 128 letters of interests arrived, as Tanjug finds out.
The Agency for privatization released a tender for privatization of 84
state-owned firms such as Studio B, Politika, Novi Sad Dnevnik, Radio
Zrenjanin, Radio Leskovac, Prosveta, Zavod za udzbenike, etc.
A few months ago, the Government of Serbia adopted three media laws which imply
privaztiation of state-owned media by the mid next year.
The Law on privatization implies that privatization of state-owned companies
should end by the end of 2015 latest.
The process has been ongoing and the extended deadline for the letters of interest
for the acquisition of 502 companies in different business listed at the Agency
officially expired November 1.
After deadline expiration, letters of interest were delivered to the Ministry
of trade which is expected to decide on the companies’ destiny.
The Minister of Finance, Dusan Vujovic, announced that in the next days he will
announce which companies will go private and the ones to enter bankruptcy
procedure.
At the same time, he outlined that bankruptcy does not mean the end for the
company but that it may be the chance for the company to reorganize and start operating
again.
