Nectar soon on the market in Africa, China, Japan...
Products of the Serbian company Nectar should soon be found on the markets of Africa, the Near and Middle East, China and Japan, judging by the intense interest shown by buyers and distributors from those countries at the largest international food industry exhibition SIAL 2014 that is taking place in Paris.
This year at SIAL, Nectar, that also owns the Slovenian company Fructal, is presenting its products in a booth of 120 square metres attracting 50 visits of interested partners each day, according to Nectar general director Čedo Praška’s statement to Tanjug.
Nectar won the SIAL award for best innovation for "Fructal ice tea" made from Vipavska valley peaches, and for the "Booster" energy drink.
Praška points out that Nectar’s strategy is to enter distant markets, which is why the company is extremely satisfied with its participation in the Paris exhibition, as it provides an opportunity to continue previous negotiations and to make new deals.
“Our overall impressions are positive. We have made many contacts, first of all with interested companies from the Far East and we expect to continue these discussions. This year we have already had contacts with companies from that region and we expect to finalise a deal in the coming days”, says Praška.
Praška adds that buyers from distant markets are mostly interested in end products, but they also show interest in contracts related to the distribution of semi-finished products – frozen fruit, pulp, fruit concentrate…
He notes that Nectar and Fructal together already export to 50 different markets. There is a high demand for final/end products packed in tetra brik and glass packaging, and semi-finished products.
“We have many partners from the EU and Russia, and here we get inquiries from other markets as well”, Praška said.
He emphasised that Nectar is the biggest fruit processing and fruit juice production company in South East Europe – the company processes fruit at six locations in Slovenia, Macedonia and Serbia. Nectar processes 100,000 tons of fruit annually and covers the entire process, even the production of raw materials.
Praška said that Nectar also markets a portfolio of organic products, which is mostly interesting for developed western markets.
“Last year we started exporting, and this year we expect serious growth”, Praška announced.
The largest international food industry fair, SIAL 2014 is taking place in Paris until 23 October. SIAL is one of the leading global food industry exhibitions and this year celebrates its 50th anniversary with 6,300 exhibitors from 105 countries. So far the event has been visited by 150,000 visitors and guests from 20 business sectors.
