The commercial contract on the construction of 7.9 kilometers of a highway between New Belgrade and Surcin was signed with China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) in August 2019. The contracted value is USD 70.5 million, and the completion of the works was planned by the end of 2021.
The PE Roads of Serbia says that the works on the construction of this section are expected to begin in March 2021 and that the new completion deadline is September 2022.
The New Belgrade-Surcin section will be part of the E-763 highway, along Corridor 11, that is, the Milos Veliki highway.
This section is specific, among other things, for going through a populated, urban area, unlike the previous projects, so it requires a specific construction technology. A cycling and pedestrian lane will be built along the highway.
The route from New Belgrade to the Surcin interchange should make the Milos Veliki highway more accessible to the residents of central city municipalities, because at the moment they have to use the highway.
