Copy linkKNEZEVIC: State incentives for local companies with less than 100 employees in 2017
Minister of Economy Goran Knezevic said yesterday that, in 2017, financial support would be provided to local companies with fewer than 100 employees as well and pointed out that, to that end, the regulation on incentives would be amended.
– There are 350,000 small and medium enterprises operating in Serbia, employing 850,000 people, and they are the backbone of the local economy. The state’s goal is thereby to support them through various project next year as well – he said.
He added that, in 2017, RSD 16 billion would remain available for SMEs, as it had been in 2016, which had been proclaimed the Year of Entrepreneurship.
According to him, the Government’s projections for 2017 are for investments to reach EUR 2 billion.
– Of the 74 investments projects, which employ 15,000 people, no job position was terminated after the expiration of the agreement on investments, which means that the business environment is good – Knezevic said.
According to the minister, fighting the shadow economy will be one of the priorities in the years to come, as it makes up around 20% of the GDP, and there will also be efforts to abolish parafiscal charges, of which there are more than 400. The Government of Serbia also aims to make the administration more efficient and to have an economic growth of around 4% in 2017.
The Minister of Economy reminded that a lot had already been done on improving the economic environment and added that the unemployment rate had reduced from 20% to 15.2%, that there was a budget surplus, that foreign investments amounted to EUR 1.8 billion and that it was expected for the GDP to be 2.8%.
He added that the Government’s goal was to increase the efficiency of public enterprises in 2017.
– We have already made certain progress, as the net profit in 37 big public enterprises in the first nine months of 2016 reached RSD 23.5 billion, due to restructuring – Knezevic said and added that the goal was not to sell the enterprises, but to make them more competitive through reforms.
